Ministries
Ways to belong, serve and grow
The church is not a building, it is a body — and every member has a part. These are the ministries through which Canaan Missionary Baptist Church loves God and loves its neighbors.
“As every man hath received the gift, so minister the same one to another.”
1 Peter 4:10
The work of the church
Find where you fit
Some of these ministries meet on a set day; others are simply the ongoing work of caring for one another and reaching out beyond our walls. If something here speaks to you, come and be part of it.
Every one of them is a place to serve, not just a place to sit. If you would like to join one, or if you have a gift we have not named yet, tell us — send us a note or call the church at 843-846-4175.
Serving from the sound booth
The Technology Ministry
Sound, livestream and the online side of the ministry — the quiet work done from the back of the sanctuary that carries the Word past these walls to the folks who cannot be here in person. Our volunteers run the sound each Sunday, keep the microphones and the mixing board working, film and stream the service, and look after everything the church does online.
You do not need any experience to serve here. If you are willing, we will gladly teach you. Everything you see on this website — the livestream, the sermons, the flyers, this page — comes out of this ministry.
Who leads it
Angelita Cosby Sampson
Digital Media Director
Angelita leads the Technology Ministry — the sound, the cameras, the livestream and everything the church does online. She and her team are the reason a service preached here on Sunday morning can reach somebody at home by noon, and stay there to be watched again.
If you would like to serve alongside her, there is a place for you here.

Called to serve with us?
If you have a gift for teaching, singing, cooking, visiting the sick, or working with young people, we would love to put it to use for the Lord. Tell us what you’d like to do and someone will follow up with you.
Volunteer with usHave a prayer need?
Our prayer ministry lifts up the needs of the congregation and the community. Send us your request and it will be prayed over — by name, or quietly between you and the pastor if you would rather keep it private.

The Executive and Administrative Staff, the Board of Trustees and every active ministry of the church are listed together on our Leadership & Ministries page — with room to grow as the church does.

Ministry happens in the room, not on a page. Join us for worship on Sunday or Bible study on Wednesday and see where you fit.
